Pet Pride of New York is a no-kill, cat only shelter that provides a temporary home environment to a small population of healthy, people friendly felines while they await adoption.  Pet Pride chooses our prospective incoming cats with great care.
A no kill cats only shelter
* History of the cat's behavior, personality and present home environment are required.

* A cat must be spayed/neutered and in medically sound condition before being considered for admission

* An owner wishing to relinquish ownership of a cat must first provide the candidates past vet record (Faxed to 585-742-1641).

* Agree to see their veterinarian for a full health exam.

* Update vaccines.

* Be wormed by vet.

* Be treated for fleas if infested by vet.

* Have a Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (Felv/FIV) blood test within one month of the admission date into Pet Pride.

* Older cats may require senior blood panel to be done.
THIS PROCEDURE ALSO APPLIES TO KITTENS; THE REQUIREMENT TO SPAY/NEUTER IS WAIVED IF THE KITTEN IS YOUNGER THAN SIX MONTHS.
Having a strict admission policy helps to insure that potential new owners will have a happy and long relationship with the newly adopted feline friend.  Current owners are financially responsible for the cost of meeting the admission requirements.
